Summary of 2016 Presidential Debate: Securing America from Cyber Attacks
Motion: Securing America:
Cyber Attacks
Summarize:
This presidential debate is talking about Securing America
from potential cyber-attacks from foreign person. Mrs. Clinton said that Mr.
Trump had “invited Putin to hack into” American communications, but Mr. Trump shrugged
it off. He said that “We didn’t know about it! It could be Russia. It could be
China or it could be a man who “weighs 400 pounds” and sits at home.”
Clinton’s answers, again, hit on the themes of the
question, but she did diverge into a critique of her opponent. Still, the
themes she touched on dealt with public and private sector information,
defending American citizens, and that there’s “no doubt” that this is a serious
problem.
Clinton’s answer is actually always on point but she
did not respond to Mr. Trump’s critique. She started off with talking about public
and private sector information. She also defended American citizens, and said that
this is a serious problem.
Then, Mrs. Clinton said that she was worried about Mr.
Trump is getting his hands on the nuclear codes, Mr. Trump replied, "That
line is getting a little bit old." Mrs. Clinton mocked Mr. Trump's
"secret plan," as he called it, to fight the Islamic State, saying he
had no true strategy to defend the US security. In the end, both sides actually agreed on one thing; nuclear war or nuclear weapons is the biggest threat that America and the whole world faced.
Mrs. Clinton actually provided an appropriate response
to the question, but she did go off topic occasionally. Trump’s answer
contained fewer relevant responses.
